Welcome to Central Sub
Stretching over 400 miles of ocean, the 9 islands of the Azores are rich in culture, natural beauty and warm hospitality. Discovered in the 15thC, the islands have always had a close relationship with the sea, a tradition that continues today with the wide variety of water-sports and activities available for visitors to enjoy - snorkelling, diving, fishing, whale-watching and boat-tours. There are also mountains to climb, volcanic caves to explore, cycle tours and much, much more. The summers are filled with flowers and festivals - even the tiniest white-washed village has its festival with food, games and music. Savour the islands' fish & seafood, wines & cheeses, and even locally grown tea from Europe's only tea plantations. At the heart of this archipelago lies the triangle of Pico, São Jorge and Faial - three islands, each with its own distinct character. Rugged Pico, with its central volcano, at 2.351m the highest mountain in Portugal; rural São Jorge, famous for its cheese, with its high pastures and flat coastal Fajãs; and beautiful Faial, known as the blue island due to the abundance of hydrangeas, with its world reknowned marina and sailors' bars. And it is here in Horta Marina that Central Sub are based. Their experienced staff prepare custom designed holiday packages to suit the needs of individual clients. We can arrange everything from activities to lodging to inter-island transport. Tell us what you would like, and we will organize it for you.
